On April 10, 2016, the US Post Office did something it has not done for 97 years: the postage rates went DOWN!  Before it cost 49 cents to mail a letter; now you can buy the stamps at 47 cents each.  Take advantage of this by purchasing your stock of Forever stamps.  Who knows how long the rate decrease will last?  And, for all you know, it may take another 97 years for the next decrease.

I titled this post the Stamp Act because it was an act of Congress that caused the decrease.  The rate went up temporarily with a sunset clause in the original price increase.  On April 10, the clause expired.  If you want to know more about the original Stamp Act in 1756, you can find out more information here:
