I am going to take a break from writing about history, books and self-publishing to blog this week about Perseverance. My Number One Son is now an officially licensed CPA. He studied hard, passed all four tests with high scores, and took the necessary extra classes, all while holding down a full-time auditing and tax job. Last August 2015, he even carried his study materials with him as he hiked around Mont Blanc in France and Italy. (He took the first CPA test that October.) In about a year, he finished his goal. My husband and I are very proud of Number One Son’s achievement.

There’s a lesson here for all of us. If we buckle down—and do the work—we, too, can achieve our goals. Of course, it’s hard to stay on track and keep plugging away when there are siren calls to other worthy things to do. But remember the example, and keep on course. Then you will also have a certificate (or self-publishing business) at the end.

Please join me in congratulating Number One Son!
